You are eligible to apply for a Live Your Dream Award if you are a woman who provides the primary financial support for yourself and your dependent(s), has financial need, and is enrolled in or has been accepted to an educational program (such as vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program.) To be eligible for the Women’s Independence Scholarship Program, applicants must identify as a female survivor of intimate partner abuse; be physically separated from her abuser a minimum of one year but not more than seven; and have sought services from a non-profit agency that provides services to survivors of intimate partner abuse for a minimum of six consecutive months. This agency is willing to act as sponsor by mentoring and providing support to the student throughout her educational experience and can accept funds on behalf of the applicant, should a scholarship for living expenses be awarded. Applicant must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States, or have an immigration status that makes her eligible for FAFSA, and be a current physical resident of the United States or its territories. Applicant should have applied to or been officially accepted into an accredited course of study at a United States institution. First priority are candidates who are single mothers with young children who have the greatest barriers (i.e. childcare needs) to successfully completing their education. Scholarships are awarded in three categories: Designer/Creator (based on images of finished pieces that are designed and created by the student); Designer (based on designs by the student, includes CAD and drawings); Non-Designer (essay-based for those studying to be a gemologist, appraiser, watchmaker, bench jeweler, or retailer). Applicant must be enrolled in a jewelry or metalsmithing program at an accredited college, university, or training school within the United States. The Executive Committee of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) has established the Alice T. Schafer Mathematics Prize to be awarded to an undergraduate woman for excellence in mathematics. For the nomination procedure, the nominee must either be a U.S. citizen or have a school address in the United States. Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination.
